How does it work?
Simply put, Silver and Copper’s metal ions have antimicrobial properties that kill bacteria. Glass retains metal as ions, releasing them gradually in the presence of water or moisture. The materials are then mixed together to create a solution that can be added to a product at the manufacturing stage – thus giving it an inbuilt layer of added protection against bacteria.
The Science behind ION PURE
The Silver and Copper metal ions infused in the glass solution have an antimicrobial effect on bacteria because they penetrate or affix to their cell membranes. When the metal ions break through the cell’s membrane it prevents its growth by blocking the respiration of the cells and attaching to their DNA. Ultimately, bacteria are eliminated because the metal ions cause catastrophic structural failure by disrupting and compromising the cell’s structural integrity.
